The envoy was abducted by the gunmen along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway.

It was learnt that Williams was on his way to Jaji, Kaduna State, where he was going to attend the graduation ceremony of Senior Course 38 at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), when he was kidnapped.
The whereabouts of his driver is also unknown at this time.
Until his posting to Nigeria, Maj.-Gen. Williams (retd.) was head of Sierra Leone’s Armed Forces.
Although, there has been no official confirmation of the abduction, Chairman of the Nigeria Human Rights Commission, NHRC, said a ransom of N44million is being demanded by the abductors.
